By default, Windows 7 uses the default Aero theme which includes things like a transparent taskbar and transparent windows and includes Aero peek that lets you see your desktop or program preview when you hover your mouse over any open program. These are all nice, but unnecessary. Having sounds enabled also uses up system resources.
Right click on your desktop, select “Personalize” and scroll down to the “Basic and High Contrast Themes” and select “Windows 7 Basic”.
At the bottom of this window, you should also see and icon called “Sounds”. Click this and in the popup window under the “Sound Scheme” select “No Sounds” and click OK.
You’ll be surprised how fast your computer now performs!
Do It Again is a free and simple program that allows you to make your computer automatically perform a task for you, whenever you want.
If there is something that you do on your computer over and over, and you do it exactly the same way every time (such as backing up your pictures, checking web-based email for new messages, etc.), you can tell Do It Again how to perform that task (by doing it once yourself to create the new task). Then you can run that task whenever you want and Do It Again will automatically click the buttons and press the keyboard keys (in exactly the same way as when you created the task), while you sit back and watch the task being performed on the screen.
This is also called macro or automation software, as it allows you to record a macro, then play it back to automate the actions of that macro.

I have used this many times on Mac computers and it will make a huge difference to the speed of your Mac.
I normally switch off all the fancy effects, this alone will make a huge difference similar to adding more ram. Try it but if you are not computer literate best let someone who is look at it.
Secrets is a preference pane that lets you customize many Mac OS X settings that are hidden or incomplete.

We’ve all been there. Type 3 or 4 long paragraphs only to find that we had the CAPS LOCK button on. Frustrating!
Here’s a simple visual reminder that you have it on.
Many models of modern notebooks, netbooks and cordless keyboards have no indicators for Caps Lock, and Num Lock. Indicator of Scroll lock disappeared almost from any hardware. Keyboard LEDs software solves this problem and allows you to see the current state of keyboard locks on small icon in the system tray or on the floating window over your screen.

When browsing a long page sometimes it’s great to know a shortcut to get back to the top of the page. Hitting the Home button on your keyboard is the usual approach but the Home button is not in a great flowing position. Recently I discovered that hitting the TAB key does the same thing. The TAB key is on the left on keyboards too and in a perfect position to tap to bring you page back to top without taking your right hand off the mouse.
